RideSmart Texas Track Day Motorcycle School

PARADE LAPS are available at most events (Parade Laps are not available at COTA) at approximately noon, which allows non-participants (spectators) to ride the track for a few laps (the number of laps will vary sometimes, but it will be at least 2). If you are planning to participate in our track events, and you have friends that are thinking of doing same but want to try it before they commit, please feel free to spread the news so they can get on the track and ride it during one of our parade laps.

The following information will serve as rules for the parade laps event with RideSmart:

I. PARADE LAPS TIME

The parade laps will take place during lunch break at the track event. Usually, that will occur around noon, but may vary depending on circumstances. Anyone who wishes to ride the parade laps is encouraged to be present early, to avoid missing the ride.

II. PARADE LAPS STAGING LOCATION

Anyone wishing to ride, will be asked to listen for announcements during the track event. Usually, parade lap riders stage near the classroom areas on all tracks. All riders should have the necessary equipment present for the ride.

III. PARADE LAPS DURATION

Parade laps will vary in duration, due to time constraints and track layouts, but they will be at least 2 laps.

IV. PARADE LAPS GEAR REQUIREMENTS

The following gear rules apply to ALL parade lap riders. All gear must be worn by each rider AND passenger during parade laps:

  • DOT Certified helmet
  • Full finger riding gloves
  • Riding boots (no tennis shoes) - above ankle leather boots
  • Riding jacket
  • At minimum, jeans are to be worn (no shorts/skirts, etc)
  • Eye protection should be worn by riders

V. PARADE LAPS PACE

While we will not be able to ride parade laps at race pace (or even near it), the pace will be fast enough to enjoy the turns. These events are meant for people to get acquainted with track riding and to give them a feel for track riding at a brisk rate of speed. If you feel that you do enjoy the track and would like to enjoy it at a much higher pace, we encourage you to sign up for one of our events, where you set the pace. To compare, parade laps pace should be somewhat near the Round Robin introductory pace for Novice.

VI. PARADE LAPS RIDER AGE

Anyone capable of riding a motorcycle will be able to attend. Any rider younger than 16 years old will require parental consent to ride the laps. Any two up riding will require that the passenger sit in the appropriate location on the motorcycle, and that they conform to all the gear rules stated above.

VI. OTHER PARADE LAPS RULES

  • There will be absolutely no passing by any rider during the entire ride. The order in which you start your ride will be the same order in which you arrive back.
  • Control riders will monitor all riders for compliance with all rules.
  • Careless play will not be allowed.
  • There will be no behavior that could create a potential to cause harm to others via the actions of the rider.
  • All riders must have fun during the ride.

In light of all the rules, we want to re-iterate that we do want all of you to enjoy yourselves, but we also ask that you do this while practicing common sense and simple safety rules. Doing so will allow everyone to truly experience the track in a way it was meant to be.
